CLAIRE MARTIN OBE

'One of the truly great songwriters of our time'

THE GUARDIAN

‘The acclaimed Ty Jeffries is a prolific composer and writer who is influenced by the golden age of Hollywood and the great American and British songbooks.’

BISTRO AWARDS NYC

'Song after song attests to (his) ability to evoke the style and substance of classic cabaret songs of the past while remaining a total original.  There are echoes of Coward and Porter and Grand and Harnick and Sondheim in terms of verbal dexterity and infectious accompaniment, but the show is like finding a treasure trove of new special material, ready to be immortalized'

SUZY KLEIN - BBC RADIO 3 ESSENTIAL CLASSICS

'Haunting...An artist I just cannot stop listening to'

NEIL BRAND

'Solo piano is best when its telling a story, and Ty's pieces are redolent of a place and time, almost filmic in the way they evolve, and full of beautiful, wistful longing. You'll see pictures as you listen, and that's a rare gift in music today'

CULTURE FIX

'Jeffries’ skills on the piano are clear – as are his skills as a songwriter and musical performer...an absolute delight.’

IAN ROSENBLATT OBE (ROSENBLATT RECITALS)

'Debussy-esque...Always evocative, each track tells a story, beautifully expressed without words .Ty has created a sumptuous musical world that both sparks the imagination and settles the mind'

YEHUDA SHAPIRO (THE STAGE/THE FT)

'Each compact piece on his album Dusk in the Luxembourg Gardens references and integrates a diversity of influences while springing some gentle – but sophisticated – surprises, whether melodic, harmonic or rhythmic. If an air of nostalgia hangs over the album, it is captivating for today’s listener.'

CLASSICAL NOTES

'Hauntingly beautiful piano music....and poignantly witty songs. Think jazz and 1920s cabaret mixed in with the sadness and expressionism of Satie and Debussy. Throw in some sixties film music, hints of Brel and Michel Legrand, and you’re getting the idea'

LATEST CULTURE

‘Ty Jeffries is a musician and writer of impeccable quality...As a composer he is capable of conjuring from thin air that unique sense of place in the most charming and lyrical fashion…his compositions with top melodic lines that soon fix themselves in your mind. Close your eyes and you can imagine yourself in a film, a film with a very good score!’ ★★★★★

Composer, lyricist and entertainer Ty Jeffries started writing music since the age of just 5 on a piano left for safekeeping in the family potting shed. Although mainly self taught he went on to study music at The Purcell School in London. He is best known for his work in the world of cabaret and  performed all around the UK, The USA and three times at The Wigmore Hall with a return visit in June 2024.
